This page addresses the changes we need to make in our
assumptions of what (and NEVER who) can be owned, and the rights and
responsibilities
that come with ownership.
What can be owned? Here's where we begin to redefine
the concepts of private
property and public stewardship in ways
that will allow for more sustainable land use and natural resources'
exploitation policies.
The first crucial distinction that must
be made is that between Personal and Private Property.
Personal
property in our view includes:
- clothing
- share of
primary domicile space
- ordinary objects used for satisfying
essential needs
- one's cultural output (both purely
intellectual, as well as specific objects embodying or symbolizing
creative expression)
The above items are all directly used by
a person, on a daily basis.
